another catch up.

Still having LOTS of fun in Idaho. We really are enjoying ourselves and LOVE the area we are surrounded by.
We have been fishing, camping, dirt bike riding and lot's of other fun stuff this summer. We planted our first garden and loved how it turned out. Lot's of work, but worth it. Johnny and his family and Krissy and her family as well as Caryn helped out a LOT with it and we reeped the benefits. We have more tomatoes then we know what to do with.
We bought a new smaller trailer and a pontoon boat that we plan to have LOTS of fun with. We are excited about that.
We also have a new addition to the family. PETE the horse. He is a retired race horse and is gentle and great with the kids. Hopefully soon, I will get him in the mountains hunting with me. We will see if I make it back alive! ha ha. Things are going really well. We are happy, healthy for the most part and enjoying seeing the kids love it around here too. Now we just need Marianne and her family, Deanna and her family and Desi and her family here and we will be complete.

Dirt bike riding with the family. We camped right on the river. It was beautiful.
Our view.

Our visitors.

Justin riding Pete. He seems to be a great horse. We are pretty excited.

Waylon and Justin fishing.

Playing some croquet with the family in the back yard. This is when Elaine's father, brother and sister-in-law came for a visit. Lot's of fun.

The front of the house.

Our two new additions to the family. They sure are cute. Only 2 1/2 months apart. Laney (on the left) is Johnny and Kely's little girl and Emma (to the right) is Christian and Deanna's little girl. They are too cute together.

Anyway, we are loving Idaho to say the least.
We hope you are all doing well.
We will be updating the blog more often for sure.
Check back soon.

What we have been up to lately...

One thing is for sure, we sure do love Idaho.
We have had a busy year. We enjoyed Christmas with the entire family for the first time in our new home in Idaho. We had a ton of fun and enjoyed every minute of our time together.
We have enjoyed the Winter. Just enough snow to enjoy but not have to shovel. We love that! We have added 2 sheep and a cat to our family. We sure enjoy them.
We have enjoyed dirt bike riding on our property, fishing during the winter which was a blast, rotatilled our garden with our john deer lawn tractor. We have added 2 new babies to our grandchildren brood. Laney was born December 1st to Kely and Johnny and Christian and Deanna added little Emma on February 16th.
We really are loving life here in Idaho, and have loved 2010 so far.
Easter is this weekend, so we will see how much fun we have with that...

Christmas 09

Our kids and all of our grandkids, and great grandchild.

The most recent Flud Family picture

Christmas was pretty wonderful.

We were able to have ALL 6 of our children and ALL of our grandchildren (except Desi's oldest who had to work) with us this year for the first time in our new home.
It was hectic but we LOVED every minute of it.

This was the first year that we did our own Family Christmas program.
Elaine gave each family a scripture and a symbol that represented the birth of Jesus.
Deanna sang for us, and we all joined in on the last verse of her Silent Night.

The grandkids sang two different songs, they were just too cute.

There was lots of great food, fun games, lots of love and laughter, and a great time was had by all.

That sure is what life is all about.

Family.

Catch Up

Elaine and I have decided to start a blog.
All of our kids have a family blog, and we loved getting on the computer and checking them out, and through them, being able to catch up with some of you.
So we thought about it, and decided we would start one of our own.
Most of the events and activities in our life involve our kids, but we thought we would share them anyway.
About 2 years ago or so, we had a family meeting about our family's future.
Should we stay in California, should we move?
If we did move, would everyone want to move?
If we did move, where would we be interested in going?
After our talk we realized that we all wanted to leave California for various reasons.
Elaine and I mainly wanted to see our children and grandchildren succeed and be happy, and in the process we could live our long time dream of having some land.
Well, 2 short years later we have just about accomplished our goal.
Elaine and I bought a house in Middleton Idaho. A BEAUTIFUL little town, that we have come to love.
Our home is on 2 1/2 acres. I finally have my barn and my shop (that is filled with my kids storage!!! ha ha).
We really are living our dream.
The house is a perfect size for us, 4 bedrooms. Enough for us to have our space and the kids to have theirs when they are visiting.
Johnny has already began creating a dirt bike track for himself and the other kids in the family.
We have a fire pit that we utilize often and a deck that we enjoy quite a bit.
We have since added 2 sheep to our "farm" and a new cat, and we plan to get a couple of goats and some chickens.
I like to joke about the need to "tend my flock".
Elaine and I really are happy with our BIG decision to move from California. It came pretty easy for us, and now we see why. Life in Idaho is just "US".
We are enjoying the atmosphere, the people, the quiet, and the beauty that surrounds us.
3 out of our 6 are here already. Krissy and her family, Johnny and his family and Caryn and her family. Marianne and her family plan to be here by August and we are excited for that. Desi and her family will be here in a couple of years, and Deanna and her husband will come along once he is finished with Graduate School in Utah. They are a short drive here so we get to see them quite often.
Life is good here in Idaho.
We are living our dream and couldn't be happier.
We miss our dear friends in Concord 2nd ward, but invite any of them to come visit whenever possible.
We have had a few visits already.
Lanette and Dave Hopkins, Ed and Velda Danielson, and Diana Hale and her family. Keep those visits coming.

This blog is just going to be a "keep you updated" blog on how life is for us. What we are up to, and what fun we are having in our new life.

We pray all is well with all of you.
Check back from time to time. We love hearing from you all.

Love,
Harold and Elaine
